Growing up, I absolutely could not WAIT to get dressed everyday. I used to lay in bed at night, too excited to sleep, thinking about what I was going to wear the next day. As a matter of fact, I got a particular thrill out of wearing new things and was ready to grow up, just so I could wear things when I wanted to. Now, too much real world has crept in, slightly diminishing my original love affair, but I have re-committed myself to bringing that old thing back!! Especially seeing how it is the younger generations have fallen into the full complacency of filth!! None of them seem to embrace the concept of cleanliness, and FORGET about an outfit making sense! What ever happened to youthful innovation?!
One of the most fabulous things about being young is the ability to take risks, especially when it comes to getting dressed. Being original is the Nexus of young ingenuity. All I had to do was think about an outfit; once I had locked in on one key piece, it basically took on a life of it's own. Being homebound has made me especially longing for this piece of nostalgia, and desperately want a return to cool. Remember just getting dressed for fun?! When did clothes become strictly contingent on the events of life?! There was a time when walking outside your front door was reason enough to wear a new pair of sneakers. Now, in this brave new world, we hoard the things we purchase out of a somewhat unsubstantiated fear of the unknown. Furthermore, due to my mobility being involuntary limited, I have now become subjected to varying degrees of stretch material, mismatched sweats, and a wide array of tees with clever puns; able to express whatever it is I am feeling without having to say a word. NO MORE DAMN IT!! I'm taking my right to be free AND fresh back...
I'm going back to that time in my life when NOTHING provided greater joy than a Fresh 2 Def Queen Khira. It gave my self-confidence the boost I never knew it needed till it was gone. It is crucial piece of my identity that simply cannot be allowed to fall to the wayside. It is my inalienable RIGHT to be my absolute FRESHEST, every single day of my life if I so choose, current circumstances be damned! I don't know what's wrong with the young people of today, and why they aren't using every opportunity to make money so they can stay fresh; I daresay your priorities are seriously misplaced! Embrace that yearning to do more with your appearance today, and NEVER look back.~ The Queen
