I'm Doing THIS, for ME...

QueenKhira.com has always been a place for you to come for self-discovery.  It's meant to encourage you, push your boundaries, and provide much-needed respite from the programming reality offers.  I wanted to infuse this idea into your everyday lives, to make it organically apart of your daily design.  With that, Our Sitewide theme was born, I'm Doing THIS, for ME...  I still try not to be amazed at the perfection of a synchronistic moment, it's truly a remarkable feeling.  To discover your desired state of being, and to be able to return to it, whenever you desire, is REAL magic.  Ladies and Gentleman, it's time to embrace it as the new norm.  It's time to relax into the natural ebb and flow of life, relinquishing to control we never truly had...and why the Hell not?!  What's the alternative, badgering myself into an anxiety-filled submission, heavy with self-pity and disappointment?!  Yea, No.   In all things, there is Cosm...

Everyday Tarot

I remember a time in my life when a simple discussion about tarot was enough to send the listener screaming, running towards the nearest church!  A person was not even allowed to properly educate themselves on the subject to make an informed decision as to what tarot cards were all about.  I was definitely raised in one of those environments where anything outside the perimeters of the Baptist church had better not be discussed; let alone learned or practiced. Lucky for me, I was BORN this way.  Fuck it, it's the truth.  What my soul seeks, She GETS... My intrinsic inclinations have always connected me to the natural world, compelling me to seek what lies beneath, and my place in it all.  Tarot cards, I soon discovered, is a direct line to the Universe, and intuition is the operator.  It's a way to talk, and better still,  HEAR what the Universe has to say in response.  Tarot is NOT evil, nor is it a way to predict the future.  In life, ...

Crystals and Couture

Those just might be my 2 favorite C words known to man!  With the start of a new year, it's only right I acquire a little bit of both!  I've had my eyes peeled for the past few weeks for all of the best sales; I had my heart set on a new piece of Rainbow Tourmaline and Rose Quartz(see below for crystal properties and uses if you aren't familiar!).  At the same time, I have also been dreaming of some new bags; crossbodys and a satchel, to be specific; a little on the fancy side though.  All of my work was not in vain because guess what?!  Marshall's is now carrying Badgley Mischka handbags and wallets-mike drop...but it gets even BETTER-not one item is priced over $29.99!!  Wait, What?!  Yes Please!!  Amazon has 1 lb of Raw Rainbow Tourmaline AND Rose Quartz for under $15.00.  I also came across a National Geographic Rock Polisher for $39.99!!  Your girl is absolutely THRILLED!!  What crystals do you have your eye on?!  H...

A Return to Fresh: Everyday Fly

Growing up, I absolutely could not WAIT to get dressed everyday.  I used to lay in bed at night, too excited to sleep, thinking about what I was going to wear the next day.  As a matter of fact, I got a particular thrill out of wearing new things and was ready to grow up, just so I could wear things when I wanted to.  Now, too much real world has crept in, slightly diminishing my original love affair, but I have re-committed myself to bringing that old thing back!! Especially seeing how it is the younger generations have fallen into the full complacency of filth!!  None of them seem to embrace the concept of cleanliness, and FORGET about an outfit making sense!  What ever happened to youthful innovation?! One of the most fabulous things about being young is the ability to take risks, especially when it comes to getting dressed.  Being original is the Nexus of young ingenuity.  All I had to do was think about an outfit; once I had locked in on on...

A New Day

I woke up this morning ON MY SHIT!!!  I don't know it it's all this energy Mercury Retrograde has freed up, but I like it!!   I woke up wanting something new and different.  I'm ready for exactly what I deserve, and it's high time I got it, ALL OF IT!!  You know, I have just been feeling so detached from it all for so long, it was refreshing to wake up and be ready to ENGAGE with the world.  As a matter of fact, the 1st thing I did was run straight to a blank page to write this all down!  The sun was up to greet me; TODAY IS MINE!!! It's time to let go...all that is no longer serving our greater good is unwanted clutter.  It's time for the newness of life to come in, just as it does in Spring.  We change with the seasons.  I'm over the drabness of winter and all the things that died there.  I'm ready to LIVE!!  Today feels like a call to life that is just impossible to ignore.  Any and all things that are in...

Heartbreak Hotel: Maintaining Integrity In The Makeup World

You know, there's a reason why you NEVER see negative reviews of products on Nouveau...It's because I absolutely DO NOT condone the spread of negativity.  If I don't like it, you will not hear me talk about it.  If you are an OG follower, you will recall my instant love affair with Juvia's Place several years ago.  as soon as they hit the scene, I was immediately smitten with the insane pigmentation and shadow quality; I could not sing her praises loud enough, and as new products have come out, I snapped them up ASAP.  I was all too thrilled to revisit an old favorite... Because I steer clear of controversy, it's not strange that I was completely unaware of all the dramatics recently surrounding the brand it's owner, Chi Chi Eburu.  So much so, that I logged on to the site 2 weeks ago to make another purchase.  After checkout, I headed over to YouTube to see what the beauty community had to say about my newest acquisitions.  It was the...

Elements of Style: A Life Lesson to Future Queens

For as long as I can remember, the one thing that has driven me was the possibility of getting dressed up.  If it was a special occasion the next day, I would be in bed the night before, too excited to sleep, thinking about the out I would be wearing the following day.  The women in my life each played a significant role in molding my ideas about what the well-dressed female REALLY is, and the importance of wielding this power.  Te right outfit can mesmerize an entire room, and has the potential to effect the outcome of certain situations.  It was the summer before I turned 13, and my aunt Dinneen gave me a lesson that STILL resides with me, and is apparent and active in my children...the Art of Style... I had always been involved in the process of picking my own clothes to a certain extent, but I had NEVER gone school shopping without my Grandmother.  It had ALWAYS been our thing, and I looked forward to it.  This particular year, however, when I ...

Neapolitan Ice Cream: A Lesson in Becoming Queen

Growing up, I never realized just how MANY lessons I was actually given on becoming Queen.  I was being groomed the entire time without ever knowing it.  One of the earliest lessons I can remember was being taught the "politics" on running an empire, satisfying the masses when everyone wants something different.  The way this lesson was taught to me was through the use of Neapolitan Ice Cream... At the Ponderosa, we LOVE our birthdays, and it is absolutely necessary that the occasion be marked with a family celebration.  Regardless of whatever plans you THINK you may have, it is a guarantee of a birthday cake fresh from the Italian bakery, Ice Cream, and Dinner.  I must have been about six years old, and the Mainor birthday season was in full swing, so that puts us at the middle to end of March, 1990.  Nana and I were in the kitchen, I was keeping her company as she put the finishing touches on one of her culinary delights.  The festivities were p...

Metamorphasis

I have been feeling like a caterpillar for quite some time now...knowing that my life and experiences are necessary for the transformation ahead, yet I can't help yearning to feel my wings glowing in the sun!  I found a chart on pinterest, that broke down the different steps to spiritual awakening into 7 separate stages: Stage 1:  Unhappiness and Emptiness Stage 2:  Perception Shifts Stage 3:  Seeking Answers and Meaning  Stage 4:  Finding Answers and Experiencing Breakthroughs Stage 5;  Disillusionment and Feeling Lost Stage 6:  Deeper Inner Work Stage 7:  Integration, Expansion, Joy This was incredibly helpful in me figuring out exactly where I was in my journey; it also helped to appease my impatience by offering an explanation as to what's going on inside of me... According to this, I have left stage 5, that of "Disillusionment and Feeling Lost", and am now fully immersed in stage 6, my :Deeper Inner Work"...
