There is one thing that I know for sure has always been life-long love...stones and crystals. Ever since I was a kid I can remember visiting my aunt at Liberty Science Center and begging my Grandmother for $5.00 so I could buy a new "rock". There was even this guy in my town who made a living on a converted school bus visiting schools having kids "dig"(more like sift through shallow trays!) through sand to unearth their own minerals. I lived for these types of things(weird kid, I know!).
As an adult, not much has changed; I mean, my palette has become a bit more refined, switching out pyrite for 14K, and tiger's eye for little Dior birds that sing. Yet, I still retained my love for raw, uncut, unpolished quartz crystal. My birthstone is Amethyst, and it definitely holds a special place in my heart, so when I came across this particular necklace, it peeked my interest.
I purchased this from the Black Owned company Ancient Aura Jewelry. When I tell you it was the stones that attracted me, but the variety that kept me, I tell you NO lie! Let me not get ahead of myself, lets discuss my piece...The particular necklace I purchased costs $19.99 and also comes in a Pink Ice and Clear Quartz. The chain is gold plated, as specified in the product description, and is guaranteed not to fade, a claim that has certainly rang true. I would, however, suggest if you purchase the largest of the stones(yes, you have an option of stone size!), that you swap out the chin for something with slightly more weight to it, as the chain is a little on the thin side.
The company offers a wide range of diverse African inspired pieces, including things that specifically speak to African American Culture. I am overall impressed and cannot wait to see where the brand goes next. I would love to see something set in Actual Gold; perhaps the Black Unicorn...(Hint Hint!) Whatever happens next, I'm here for it and I'll get to say I knew them when and put the world on game before they blew. ~The Queen~
